Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how ActDaily, Inc. d/b/a BorrowHive ("BorrowHive," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use our websites, applications, and marketplace services.

1. Scope and Platform Role

BorrowHive operates a marketplace that connects users for local tool and equipment rentals. We do not own listed items and we are not the merchant of record for every off-platform arrangement.

This policy applies to information we control as a service provider/operator. Third-party providers that process information on our behalf or as independent controllers/processors have their own policies.

BorrowHive is intended only for adults age 18 and older. We do not knowingly permit minors to create or use BorrowHive accounts.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account and contact data such as name, email address, phone number, and profile metadata.
  • Location data such as neighborhood, street address, city/state/ZIP, county/FIPS, and geocoded latitude/longitude.
  • Marketplace and user-generated content such as tool listings, photos, messages, questions, reviews, rentals, and support requests.
  • Payment, payout, and verification metadata needed for Stripe and Stripe Connect workflows.
  • Device, session, and diagnostic data such as IP address, browser/device metadata, device push tokens, access logs, telemetry events, and limited error diagnostics.
  • Optional social-account metadata if you connect Facebook for account linking or social-sharing features.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide account access, profile management, neighborhood matching, and marketplace functionality.
  • Process reservations, rentals, payments, payouts, refunds, and related compliance workflows.
  • Enable communications, notifications, reminders, and trust/safety review.
  • Improve product quality, detect abuse/fraud, troubleshoot issues, and operate the service securely.
  • Send transactional notices, legal/policy updates, and marketing communications where permitted.
  • Comply with legal, tax, audit, insurance, and regulatory obligations.

4. Mobile Permissions and Device Features

  • Camera access is used only when you choose to scan tool QR codes or capture profile/tool photos.
  • Photo-library access is used only when you choose existing photos to upload.
  • Push-notification permissions are optional and support rental, payment, and message updates.
  • Location access is optional and used when you ask BorrowHive to use your current location for search or map features.

5. Stripe Processing

BorrowHive uses Stripe and Stripe Connect to process payments, payouts, onboarding, and related compliance workflows. Stripe may receive identity, payment, and transaction information required to provide those services.

  • Stripe legal terms include the Services Agreement.
  • BorrowHive does not store complete card or bank-account credentials.

6. Twilio Processing (SMS)

  • BorrowHive may use Twilio-supported delivery services for account, security, and transactional SMS.
  • You can opt out of SMS by replying STOP, and you can request support by replying HELP.
  • BorrowHive does not share mobile opt-in data for third-party or affiliate marketing.

7. Mailgun Processing (Email)

  • BorrowHive uses Mailgun-supported delivery services for transactional and marketing email.
  • Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link.

8. How We Share Information

  • With other marketplace users as needed to complete rentals and coordinate pickup/return logistics.
  • With vendors and subprocessors that deliver core platform capabilities under contractual controls.
  • With legal, regulatory, law-enforcement, or insurance stakeholders when required or permitted by law.
  • In corporate transactions (merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer) subject to applicable law.

BorrowHive does not sell personal information for cash consideration, does not run third-party advertising SDKs, and does not share personal information with data brokers.

9. Vendor and Subprocessor Disclosures

BorrowHive uses third-party services including payments, communications, hosting, and security providers. Examples include Stripe, Twilio, Mailgun, Cloudflare, and Akamai, among others that may change over time.

10. Email and SMS Communications

  • Transactional/service messages may be sent regardless of marketing preferences.
  • Marketing emails include unsubscribe controls and suppression handling.
  • SMS consent is managed per campaign rules. Message frequency varies and rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to opt out of eligible SMS campaigns and HELP for assistance where available.

11. Retention, Security, and Incident Response

We retain data for business, legal, and risk-management purposes, including fraud prevention, accounting, tax, and dispute resolution. Retention periods vary by data type and legal requirement.

We apply technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. No environment is perfectly secure, and residual risk remains in any internet service.

Data is transmitted over encrypted network channels where supported by the applicable service and device.

12. Privacy Rights and Requests

  • Request access, correction, deletion, or export of your information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Opt out of marketing emails via unsubscribe links and supported preference controls.
  • Delete your account in-app through Profile > Account Settings > Delete Account.
  • Use our public Account Deletion & Privacy Choices page if you cannot access the app.
  • California residents may exercise applicable state rights under California privacy law. Learn more.

13. Children, International Access, and Policy Updates

  • BorrowHive is not directed to minors and is intended only for adults age 18 and older.
  • BorrowHive is U.S.-operated; cross-border transfers may occur where lawful and operationally required.
  • We may update this policy; material updates are posted with a revised effective date.
